I'm a fourth-year international student who studies geography at the University of British Columbia. I focus on environmental studies, urban studies and geographical information science (GIS) in my coursework.
Since moving to Vancouver, I've learned more about equitable development from my former colleagues at the UBC Sustainability Initiative, inspiring me to study urban environments, economics and other fields related to public and environmental policy.
From looking at the geopolitical implications of microtargeted advertising operations to planning community events on campus, I've applied my passion for community learning and spatial thinking through a variety of activities. I'm always looking for ways to get involved as demonstrated by my internship experience at Diabetes Canada and current work as a co-op student for UBC Geering Up Engineering Outreach. I have demonstrated my ability to write strong grant applications, raising over $620,000 during my time at Geering Up. I hope to further develop my professional skills to prepare for a career in urban planning or not-for-profit management.
