Event description:
The UBC Sustainability Ambassadors had the opportunity to host 30+ pop-up shops, student clubs, nonprofits, and businesses in Vancouver which contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's). At this public event, participants could engage with a multidisciplinary roster of organizations and learn how to get involved in their community.
The event featured groups such as the David Suzuki Foundation and was graciously sponsored by: Choices Market, Ethical Bean Coffee, SPUD.ca, Grounds for Coffee, Kins Farmers' Market, and Evo Car Share.
My Role:
As the project lead, I facilitated team meetings, created project timelines, and reviewed documents such as grant applications, budgets, and sponsorship letters. I managed all other aspects of the sponsorship cycle including prospect research, application development, sponsorship package delivery, and client service. Thanks to my team's diligence and attention to detail, we ensured smooth event operations and received very positive feedback from participants and hosted organizations. They particularly enjoyed:
"The diversity of booths around and all the meaningful conversations I had with people."
"The variety of vendors and merch plus good information they were able to provide. [The] location was also perfect."
Moreover, our team went above and beyond to commit to environmentally-responsible event planning by implementing a paperless promotions campaign, offering sustainable/vegan food options, and not using plastic plates, wrapping, or utensils for free lunch offered to event partners.
